Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release a DVD edition and a combo pack Blu-ray edition of the DreamWorks Pictures drama People Like Us (2012), starring Chris Pine, Elizabeth Banks and Michelle Pfeiffer. The release will be available for purchase on October 2.

“People Like Us” is set to have its world premiere at the 2012 Los Angeles Film Festival as a part of its “Summer Showcase” series!
Dreamworks Pictures’ People Like Us will have its World Premiere amongst the Summer Showcase screenings. The film is directed by Alex Kurtzman, written by Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and Jody Lambert, and stars Chris Pine, Elizabeth Banks, Olivia Wilde, Michael Hall D’Addario, Philip Baker Hall, Mark Duplass and Michelle Pfeiffer. In a story inspired by true events, Sam (Pine), a twenty-something, fast-talking salesman, is tasked with fulfilling his estranged father’s last wishes – delivering an inheritance to a sister he never knew he had. Dreamworks Pictures will release the film on June 29, 2012.
Previously known as Welcome to People, the familial drama from debut director Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek) is now titled, People Like Us. Written by Kurtzman, Roberto Orci (Star Trek) and relative newcomer Jody Lambert, People Like Us stars Chris Pine (Star Trek) as a man who inherits $150,000 upon his father’s death, but must deliver the money to a sister he has never met. Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games) stars as the sister in question, an alcoholic with a 12-year-old son, who Pine’s character befriends. Olivia Wilde (Cowboys and Aliens) also stars in People as Pine’s girlfriend, Hannah. Pine spoke on the project during a previous interview, as did Mark Duplass (The League) in a more recent interview that you can read here. Michelle Pfeiffer (Batman Returns) also stars as Pine’s widowed mother. The DreamWorks picture, partially set up by Steven Spielberg himself, will open June 29th of this year.
