Visionary Globe by Olivia Wilde, Designed by Emmanuel Contina
Auction ends Tuesday, September 25th at 1:02:00 PM EDT

The naïf-style, hand-painted globe, highlighting Haiti in the world, was created by Emmanuel Contina, 27, a Haitian artist who has painted murals at the St. Damien’s Hospital, which Artists for Peace and Justice also supports. Cortina was diagnosed with HIV last year, and his art helps him keep a positive attitude. He also receives treatment at St Damien’s Hospital for his illness. Contina was born in Cité Soleil, the poorest district of Port au Prince. “There are many talented people here, but we have no good government and so no good development,” he says. “I struggle, but I survive.” All funds from the sale of this globe will go to Artists for Peace and Justice and used towards building the next generation of artists and toward the HIV/AIDS program at St Damien’s.
